Aira Force

Take in the magical Aira Force, which is one of the best sites around Ullswater. Admire the sheer size of the 65-foot waterfall. A location where beauty and power collide. There’s also a network of trails from Ullswater's lakeshore to Gowbarrow summit that are worth exploring.

Brougham Hall

Just a mile south from Penrith Castle is Brougham Hall. This medieval building is free to visit, and features stunning grounds, artists' studios, shops and a coffee house. It's a great spot for all the family to enjoy, with enough space for children and dogs to run around and explore.

Long Meg & Her Daughters Stone Circle

A geological wonder with a diameter of around 350 feet, the circle is the second biggest in the country behind Stonehenge. The tallest stone, Long Meg, stands about 12 feet high, and features three mysterious symbols, with its four corners facing the points of a compass.

Also known as the ‘Castle of the Kings’, it's great site to see with the castle walls surviving in their full height. Walk across the castle’s moat on the wooden footbridge and enter into Penrith history.
