Being a family business for over 200 years, it’s important to us that your little ones have as much fun as you do during your time with us.

Catering to guests of all ages, we aim to provide a wonderful family experience for parents and youngsters alike. There’s plenty to enjoy as a family during your time with us, bringing your group together to enjoy all that we have to offer. In the restaurant, there’s a wide variety of delicious dishes that will satisfy everyone’s taste buds, from juicy steaks and distinct special dishes for the parents to tasty burgers and sweet desserts for the kids. Our pool area gives your little ones plenty of pool space to enjoy and stretch their water wings while you sit and relax. And our tranquil lounge areas are the perfect spot for you and your troupe to sit back and enjoy your time together.

We've also put together a fantastic V I Little P extras package, giving your little ones the best experience possible. These extras aim to give kids the adult hotel treatment, including mini robes, and V I Little P menus. As well as, seasonal activity packs, bean bag cinema clubs, and events during school holidays.

With over 160 years of cruising across England’s most beautiful lake, the Ullswater Steamers are perfect for transporting you across the waters to see all that the North Lakes has to offer. One of the largest heritage boat fleets in the world, the steamers connect to some of the most famous and renowned walking routes in the Lake District National Park. The steamer takes you from the scenic village of Pooley Bridge to Howtown Pier, gateway to the Valley of Martindale, to the mining village of Glenridding, entry point to England’s third-largest mountain Helvellyn, to the Aira Force Pier that will take you to the stunning Aira Force waterfall.

As a recognised World Heritage Site, The Lake District National Park is home to some of the UK’s most detailed and fascinating historical landmarks. Packed with interesting trivia and engrossing stories of figures past, these locations are perfect for providing your little ones with a wonderful mix of fun and education. Visit the once-imposing ruins of Penrith Castle, formerly known as ‘the Castle of the Kings’ and built at the end of the 14th century by 1st Earl of Westmorland Ralph Neville. Then, you can take a short trip of a mile and a half to Brougham Castle, an incredibly restored estate that was residence to King Edward I in 1300.

Less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel or a half-hour walk, Happy Hooves Riding Centre is a wonderful destination for providing children with an unforgettable experience. Located on the banks of the River Eamont to create a gorgeous backdrop for your adventures, the centre provides a great array of activities for you to enjoy with your new equine friend. There are private lessons available for riders of all experience levels, alongside mini family hacks for your troupe to enjoy a scenic gentle ride alongside the river, Tiny Tots sessions for 3–6-year-olds to have their first introduction to horses and riding, and Pony Days to help little ones to learn what goes into stable management and taking care of the horses.

If you’re looking to spend time with someone a bit woollier, we’ve got just the thing! With an aim to rehome alpacas and llamas from all over the country to provide them with the best care possible, the Alpacaly Ever After centre brings people in touch with the gorgeous North Lakes landscape through fantastic alpaca and llama experiences. Surrounded by incredible views from the Lakes Distillery, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and greet the alpacas, along with the chance to go on a journey with your new woolly friends on a hike through the incredible North Lakes scenery.
